After Co-President Brad Ruth opened the meeting with the Pledge of Allegiance, Program Host, Marty Tass led us in an invocation from the "Book of Monbeck". It asked for guidance in how best to live each day.
Brad then welcomed our speaker, Gary Aleman, and thanked Todd Hearty and Gail Moseley for getting us checked in this morning.
CELEBRATIONS:
Wedding Anniversary: John and Cindy Pribonic are celebrating their 40th anniversary this Sunday.
Birthdays: Rich Bedell and Jim Laber both have birthdays on Sunday. Maria Ferrara led us in singing to them.
HAPPY BUCKS:
Mary Dula reported that her great nephew from Florida will begin his residency in Family Practice at Cleveland Clinic soon.
Andy Denton shared that her son and family who have been living in Seattle are relocating to Pittsfield, MA. That means an eight hour drive as opposed to flying across the country.
50/50; Gail Moseley had the winning ticket but drew the 2 of spades.
ANNOUNCEMENTS:
Fourth of July Float: Dinah Henderson told us that Monday from 5:00-8:00 at the F.O.P Lodge behind The Church in Silver Lake, we will gather to make decorations for the float. Students from Interact will join the Rotarians. If you can be there, give Dinah a quick text at 330-612-2100 so she can plan for food. She is also looking for Rotarians to ride on the float. Its theme is "Celebrate Community, Celebrate Stow." Through the city, t-shirts for the riders will be provided, so let her know right away if you can do this.
Then to actually create the float, meet at the Safety Building from 6-8:00 on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Then of course, the actual parade is on Monday, the 4th.
Memorial Gardens: Dinah also thanked John Probinic and Scott Miller who worked along with Club Interact to clear the Memorial Gardens at the High School. Dick Hall and his truck hauled away two large loads of grasses and trees from the garden.
Installation Next Week: For next week's meeting, Gail Moseley will be installed as our 2022-2023 President. The officers and board members will also be installed at that time. In preparation for the new year, old and new board members and officers participated in an evening planning retreat on Monday. Minutes from that retreat are attached to these minutes.

Bulldog Bags: For the summer months, our club will donate 18-24 oz. containers of lemonade mix. Either drop them off at City Hall or bring them to meetings.
PROGRAM:
Host, Marty Tass by talking about his COVID experience. They were in Florida when it was time to get their shots and had to get them at Publix Market. They tried for many days to register and finally were also able to register a friend.
Marty introduced, Greg Aleman, Volunteer Marketing Manager of the Stow Community Farmer's Market. He is a graduate of Garfield High School, University of Akron and Youngstown State University. He was employed by a variety of radio stations and is now retired but still consults. He is also a member of the board of the Stow=Munroe Falls Community Foundation.
He talked with us this morning about the Farmers' Market which is located at Stow Community Church, 1567 Pilgrim Dr. in Stow, just behind Briarwood, off Graham Rd. between Englewood and Baumberger Rds. They are open on Saturday mornings from 9:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. from June 4 through October 8th. To find out more information go to StowFarmersMarket.com. You can follow the signs to the market because Gary puts up and takes down 30 signs a week.
Not only do shoppers find plenty of local produce, there is also coffee, live music, and a Kids' Patch where children do make and take activities, a knife sharpening booth, baked goods and dog treats. Kids can even rent a booth to sell their wares. There are 30-40 vendors and plenty of free parking. The market is dog friendly.
So, what can beat finding local, healthy food, products from incubator businesses, new tastes to experience and the ability to talk with the growers. Each summer they have a Cram the Cruiser event where they solicit food for the Akron-Canton Foodbank and on August 6 there will be a ukulele event where the proceeds will go to Bulldog Bags. Twenty-five players will perform.
Over the years it has been places of worship and central markets that have survived the test of time. If you have been to the Farmers' Market be sure to come back and if it is new to you, Gary will be glad to see you there.
