Happy Bucks!

Gale Moseley is proud of her grandson who has begun paramedic training.

Andy Denton is excited that her daughter, Marcie, has been able to return to teaching kindergarten after a stem cell transplant in November.  Marcie --- you go girl!!!  Here's to your return to good health!!!

Bob Oborn is thankful for the 91 cans of coffee that have been donated (as of Jan 20) for the Haven of Rest.

Linda Trevorrow was happy to see her daughter, Laura, on her 'Rotary Romper Room' screen!

Sue Figler reported that her two OSU students participated in an indoor track meet in Columbus.  Woohoo!!!!

Highlights from last week's meeting:

Gail Moseley was happy to be able to participate with our Haven of Rest 'coffee' project.  Gail's smile was heartwarming!  Thanks for telling us of your enthusiasm for one of our many Rotary community projects!!

Gail introduced David Shall, our speaker.  Dave joined our meeting from California (4:30 am his time!!).  Currently working from home, Dave sometimes misses his Hollywood office.  He has been a media executive for over 30 years.  Dave has close ties to Cuyahoga Falls - a 1976 graduate -  (he knew Bob Oborn before we did!!).

Dave has worked with many familiar TV shows including American Idol, The Price is Right, America's Got Talent and Family Feud.  He explained that Los Angeles reminds him of Akron.  He grew up in the Akron area during its heyday at the Rubber Capital of the world.  Everyone seemed to work for one of the rubber companies.  In past years it seemed that everyone in LA was part of the movie/TV industry.  But, time marches on and the employment scenes for each city have changed.  Today's LA jobs focus on digital entertainment.  Dave believes we are in a golden age of TV currently as we watch the TV focus change from cable to digital.

Dave focused on changes he is witnessing in the movie industry.  The industry is concentrating on the production of remakes of older movies.  Streaming services, like Netflix, will deliver the products!  He knows that movie theaters are teetering on bankruptcy due to the COVID 19 epidemic.  He predicts that if and when they do reopen that the movie theater experience will become an 'event'.  In addition to the comfortable seats, people will expect bar and food service, as well as good movies.

Dave --- thank you for your interesting and informational commentary on the comings and goings in Hollywood.  We hope you were able to catch a nap before beginning your work day!!

Hosts --- Please invite your speakers to learn more about Rotary!  Carrie, thank YOU for keeping everyone 'in the loop'.

Remember, this program is active at AMAZON SMILES, not the 'regular' Amazon website.
