Safety Town Water Tower Dedication

The Rotary Club of Nordonia Hills will host a dedication of Phase II of the Safety Town Project at Rushwood Elementary School, 8200 Rushwood Lane, Northfield, on Wednesday, September 13 at 11:45 am.    Phase II of the project includes the addition of a Water Tower to the permanent facility of the Safety Town project which was built in 2015.    Earlier this year, a flag pole was donated to the Safety Town site from the Building Boosters of Nordonia Hills.  A United States flag that had flown over the U.S. Capitol was donated by Congressman David Joyce for the flagpole dedication ceremony. 

The Water Tower was designed by the students at Cuyahoga Valley Career Center and funded through a grant from the Nordonia Hills Schools Foundation and Rotary District 6630.  The water tower addition was chosen because of the importance of water in our “town” and to teach students how valuable this natural resource is to our lives. 

All businesses and individuals who donated to Phase I of the Safety Town Project will be recognized at the dedication ceremony for their assistance with the project.   Safety Town, a program that teaches safety to students entering Kindergarten, has been taught in Nordonia Hills for over 40 years at various locations.   The permanent Safety Town facility is a partnership between five organizations in Nordonia Hills:   Rotary Club of Nordonia Hills, Longwood YMCA, Nordonia Hills Schools, Cuyahoga Valley Career Center and Nordonia Pre-School Parents.    

The dedication ceremony is expected to run about 30 minutes.  Light refreshments will be served.
