LOCAL ROTARY CLUB TO HONOUR

JIM PERKINS OF THE CAPITAL CITY CONDORS

On April 23, 2014 The Rotary Club of Ottawa Kanata Sunrise will be honouring Jim Perkins with a Paul Harris Fellowship for his work with the Capital City Condors Hockey Team.

The Capital City Condors is an ice hockey team for youth who are unable to play for any other hockey team due to a disability.  The Program is a highly rewarding experience for players, parents and volunteers as children, youth and young adults who only dream of playing hockey see their dreams come true and their abilities progress.

Matt Carkner of the New York Islanders was the first Honourary Captain and in his absence the New Honourary Captain is Kyle Turris of the Ottawa Senators.  Kyle and his wife Julie have become full-fledged members of the Condor Family

The Rotary Club of Ottawa Kanata Sunrise is presenting a “Paul Harris Fellowship” in recognition of his commitment to the youth in our community through the Capital City Condors.

A Paul Harris Fellowship is awarded for outstanding contributions made to the community by a donation to the Rotary Foundation.  The Award is named in honour of Paul Harris the founder of Rotary International in 1905.

The contribution honouring Jim Perkins will help provide Rotary the opportunity to continue its work providing educational opportunities, food for the poor, water wells in villages in Africa & India, health care, shelter, schools and books for thousands of children.  The donations make it possible to purchase cows to supply milk to an entire village or supply sewing machines to widows so they can become self sufficient.

Our Club is actively in our own community by providing Back packs/schools supplies to students, donations to Chrysalis House and supporting the Salvation Army Kettle Drive, collecting bottles for the Sharing & Caring, plus many other activities.

The dinner honouring Jim will take place on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at the Holiday Inn, Tickets are $80.00 per person.  Cocktails at 6:00 p.m. Dinner 7p.m.  (Cash Bar)
