Bob Varga's interview with Al Skinner:  Al has been a member of BMR since 1983.  His sponsor was Fred Bemberg (Al was doing some electrical work at Fred's house and he asked him if he would have interest in joining Rotary).  Al has held just about every BMR office, including President.  Before retiring, Al was in the phone/electrical business.  His favorite project was the bridge at the Rookery.  His favorite thing about Rotary is the fellowship with the other members.

PROGRAM:  The Middlefield Post.  Kim Breyley, editor.  Nancy Hrivnak, former editor.  Geri Watson, public relations.  Barb Fontanelle, owner.

The Middlefield Post was started in 2006 due to the community's need for a local newspaper.  The paper focuses on positive "neighborly" type news and attempts to avoid controversy or politics.  It is free within its coverage area (Middlefield, Parkman, Huntsburg) and 8,500 copies are printed per issue.  The paper is circulated every 3 weeks.  Popular sections of the paper include the Amish section (written by the Amish for the Amish), the Middlefield history section written by former BMR member Rick Seyer, and the two page photo section showing, through pictures, what is going on in the community.  The Great Geauga County Fair edition, currently in circulation, is their biggest issue of the year.  For more information, contact The Middlefield Post at 800-259-5869 or visit their website at www.themiddlefieldpost.com.
