For our Adopt-a-Soldier project, Mark asked the club if any of us know a soldier who would be a good candidate for us to "adopt".  Please see Mark with any suggestions.

PROGRAM:  Care Corp.  Peggy Robinson.  Community Liason.

Peggy, a nurse at heart, is Care Corp's Community Liason in Geauga County.  Care Corp's goal is to help people stay safe and heal at home.  Some of the most common things that take people out of their homes include falls, illness, poor nutrition, no family, not taking medications, and not paying bills.  When care is needed, it can come in different forms:  skilled or medical home care, unskilled or non-medical jhome care, and hospice.  Skilled health care includes profiessional services under the guidelines of Medicare and insurance.  Skilled services can only be ordered by a doctor.  Unskilled home care is not licensed by Medicare and the providers of this kind of care don't have to be licensed either.  Consumers must be careful when they are choosing unskilled care to make sure they are dealing with a reputable agency.  Hospice care is about quality of life at the end of life and it is a very good thing given the circumstance.

Peggy stated that if home health care is needed a doctor can't just assign you to a home health company, it is always the patient's choice.  Also, she said that most people don't know that Medicare will pay for a senior assessment that includes a doctor, nurse, pharmacist, psychologist, and physical therapist who look at a senior citizens situation at home and give recommendations.
