NEXT MEETING - 5:30 PM AT THE WEST WOODS with dinner to follow at Punderson. PROGRAM #1 – Lori Sebulski. Heifer International Thailand Trip Lori works for the United Way and was scheduled to go on a Rotary GSE trip when the trip was canceled due to safety concerns. With the GSE trip being canceled, she decided to go on a Heifer International trip to Thailand. Heifer International is a non-profit organization that looks to end hunger and poverty through teaching self-reliance and sustainability. After 36 hours of travel she found herself in small tribal village in Northern Thailand. The village spoke a tribal language so communications needed to go through a tribal language interpreter who knew Thai to an English interpreter who knew Thai. They worked on projects in the village that included setting up gardens, pig farming, and using biomass as a source of energy. Lori enjoyed her trip and spoke highly of Heifer International and their programs. PROGRAM #2 - Johnnycake Ridge Singers Barbershop Quartet BMR member Dick Hills, a member of the Johnnycake Ridge Singers, brought with him a Barbershop Quartet and they sang a couple of songs for the club. On the 15th of May they will be having two shows the Mentor Senior Citizens Center located at 8484 Munson Road in Mentor. The first show starts at 2:00 PM and is $10 and the second show starts at 7:30PM and is $12 in advance, $14 at the door. COIN TOSS Tracy Jemison is the winner. GUESTS Amanda Peterson, exchange student BMR is sponsoring, and her mother. ANNOUNCEMENTS There will be a fairgrounds building work day May 8th at 8:30 AM to work on interior walls. Bob Johnson and Mike Pesek reported on their experience at the District Conference at Kalahari Resort. The said the exchange students and Katie Spotz stole the show.
