Program - Parent Project. Tracy Jordan. Ed Samac. Parent Project was started in Geauga County about 5 years ago. The program helps parents better understand the many issues facing kids today including drugs and alcohol, cell phone use, the internet, and the media. Further, it teaches them how to best talk about these things with their children. The children also attend the meetings but in a different group with different facilitators (teachers). Parent Project programs last 10 weeks with two 3 hour meetings per week. The sessions are held twice per year. Classes are full and there is a waiting list to get in. Many area judges are requiring parents and children to attend the Parent Project as part of their sentencing or probation. All Parent Project facilitators are required to complete a 40 hour course to teach. The success of the program has been tremendous. Announcements Heads and Tails winner is Len Golding.
