PROGRAM - Al Skinner / Ralph Hurd.  Pen Making.

Ralph has been making pens for over 30 years.  He saw pen making kits advertised on TV while he was recovering from an operation and thought that making pens would be a good way to pass the time while he got better.  He must still be recovering because 30 years later he is still in the pen business.

Al Skinner and Chuck White videotaped and narrated the pen making process in Ralph's shop and presented the video to the club.  Each pen is unique so there are no two that are exactly the same.  The pen on the inside is a Cross Pen so the quality is very high.  Ralph estimated that it takes about 1.5 hours to make a pen.

Ralph generously gave a pen to every Rotarian in attendance who did not already have one.

GUESTS

Gene Hills and Iola Skinner.  Brian and Nick from the Hillcrest club.  Jim Ebert and Ron Vesely, both potential new members.
