Ashtabula County Rotarians enjoyed an evening at M Cellars on Wed., Aug. 10, 2016 in support of Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Northeast Ohio (BBBSNEO). The 'Friendraiser' was an opportunity for people to learn more about BBBSNEO in a fun and friendly atmosphere.

BBBSNEO was formed in 1993 through a merger of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Lake and Geauga county, which was formed in 1974; and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Ashtabula, formed in 1966. With an administration office for these counties located in Painesville, the agency has 12 staff members, serves over 500 children and youth, and has more than 350 male and female volunteers engaged as mentors.

Mentors are caring adult volunteers, age 18 and older, who develop and maintain traditional, one-on-one relationships or matches with children, age 6 to 15. BBBSNEO also operates a school based mentoring program designed to help children in grades 3 through 8 grade develop positive attitudes toward school, build self-esteem, and have fun while improving their natural abilities and social skills. The goal of BBBSNEO is to provide a mentor to every child who needs and wants one.
