The first club meeting since Thanksgiving. Our speakers were Darlene Mims and Frances Ladd.
 
The meeting was called to order by club president, Todd Wallace. Todd reminded the club of the sign up for Salvation Army bell ringing on Friday, December 6. The club is scheduled to ring the bell at Magic City Plaza K-Mart starting at 11am.
Our speakers were from Adult Protective Services. Darlene Mims is the Assistant Deputy Director-Special Projects and Frances Ladd is the Assistant Director of Programs at the Department of Job and Family Services. The Summit County Department of Job & Family Services administers Adult Protective Services(APS). APS is mandated by statute. Its mission is to prevent reduce or remedy conditions causing endangerment to adults 60 years and older. Darlene and Frances shared there are mandatory reporters if abuse, neglect, or exploitation is suspected that include nurses, social workers, attorney, and members of the clergy. The APS Specialist provides or arranges services for the purpose of remedying the conditions of abuse, neglect and exploitation. The programs 24 hour intake/hotline number is 330-643-721.
