The meeting was called to order by club president, Nick Wladyczak. Nick shared the District Grants Training Seminar that was scheduled for last week was canceled due to adverse weather conditions, however it will be rescheduled. We need to have at least 2 club members attend the training to qualify to apply for a grant for the coming Rotary year.
Birthdays and guests were recognized. Our guests included Rotarians from the Fairlawn and Akron Rotary Clubs. The major fundraising event of the Fairlawn Rotary Club will be held on Saturday, March 28 at the Fairlawn Country Club.The Fairlawn Club will use the event proceeds to support their clubs projects.
Happy Dollars were collected. Treasurer Vic Meyers reminded the club that the Happy Dollars collected this Rotary year will be applied to our $1000 pledge to annual campaign of the Lake Anna YMCA.
Our speaker was Jim Sawin, the new director of the Barberton YMCA. Jim talked about the 3 focus areas of the YMCA: youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. He discussed the Day Camps offered to the youth, the classes, exercise programs and wellness coaching, the community garden, and all of the people able to participate at the YMCA because of the Annual Giving Campaign.
