The meeting was called to order by club president, Jim Sawin. Upcoming fundraising events were discussed: the Reverse Raffle & Silent Auction to be held at Guy's Party Center on Thursday, Oct 26. The ticket amount will remain at $110 per couple with 2 drink tickets included. The proceeds of the event to be going towards our area projects: Emerging Futures(the elementary school dental project), interpretative signage on the Towpath Trail, and the Magical Theatre. Jim also reminded club members the Mum Festival is just around the corner and our club fundraiser is the Tons of Taters as well as a booth to sell Barbertonopoly. The dates on this years Mum Festival are September 23 and 24th.
Our speaker was Frank Sands with First Tee of Greater Akron. The First Tee is an international youth development organization introducing the game of golf and its inherent values to young people. Through after school and in school programs, we help shape the lives of young people from all walks of life by reinforcing values like integrity, respect and perseverance through the game of golf. And it’s making a difference.
