The Rotary Club of Gananoque received its charter on May 29, 1931, but the town's connection to Rotary International has even deeper roots. Dr. McCullough who settled in Fort William, Ontario was born and raised in Gananoque. He was the second Canadian to hold the office of President of Rotary International and initiated the first extension Rotary beyond its founding city.

Championing Environmental Stewardship with the District 7040 Gold EnviroClub Award
Since 2021, the Rotary Club of Gananoque has taken a leading role in environmental stewardship in and around Gananoque earning first a bronze, then silver and finally gold in 2024. Partner-based initiatives and innovative projects continue to inspire and galvanize the community we serve.
