One of the many benefits of joining a Rotary Club is that you can make a profound impact on other organizations in and around your community. This month our club was able to present a large check (both in size and amount) to a local organization, which benefited from a recent fundraising event; under our Rotarians in Action segment, below.

The Voorhees Animal Orphanage (VAO) is a 501-c-3, non-profit Municipal Animal Shelter dedicated to providing shelter, food and medical care to stray and unwanted animals until permanent homes can be found. The VAO is an open-intake animal shelter serving 29 municipalities in Southern New Jersey, 19 of which are in Camden County. Although VAO serves more than half of Camden County, NJ, they do not receive any operational or financial support from the County. The only income they receive are the monthly fees they receive from the municipalities that they serve, adoption fees, and fundraising efforts by organizations such as ours.
Our community came together this summer to support the VAO and local family farms by purchasing fresh blueberries and peaches, offered through our club. The support for this fundraising program has been steadily increasing over the years and this summer we broke records!
Club member and head of this fundraising program, Chad Puschel, is seen above handing over a check to Community Outreach Coordinator, Linda Fox, for $1,823.00. This money will go to support the animals that call the orphanage their temporary home and help the orphanage continue the improvements being made to their facility.

2022 marks the 14th year our club will be recognizing and celebrating the hard work and persistence of people/organizations working to improve Voorhees.
As we begin planning for the event, which will be held at Lucien's Distinguished Catering in Berlin on March 9th, we would like YOUR help in nominating that special someone or business which had a positive impact on Voorhees this year.
We are looking for nominations in the following categories: Voorhees Business Person of the Year, Voorhees Citizen of the Year, First Responder of the Year, and Selfless Student of the Year.
