Running Water International

This week’s presider is past President Dawne Wolfe. She called the meeting to order and made the announcements. Our Gering student guest is Nellie Kirk who hopes to become an Attorney. From Scottsbluff we have Isaac Bowman who plans on studying to become and elementary education teacher. The program today was our own Joe Schon and an update on the Kenya clean water project. To date the project has provided 90 rural schools with clean water, affected 26,773 students and has cost $214,192.00. It is in the third phase of a five phase completion and they are looking for funding for the forth phase. Joe is no longer coordinating the project and has handed the reigns over to Philip and Sherrie Shales from Thermopolis Wyoming. Joe then handed the microphone over to Isaac Soita who is involved in the project in Kenya. The project is now called Running Water International. Mr. Soita explained the involvement required to provide water systems to each school, the maintenance involved of the systems, and results of having clean water and hand washing on the school students.
