Jim Neuwirth, Gun Collector

We began the meeting with a big thank you from President Karpf for the success s of last Saturday’s Rotary Gold fund raiser. Although he does not have numbers yet, with the large turnout, he is sure we came close to making our goal for our beneficiary, Capstone. He also thanked the committee of Audrey Murphy, Becky Horne, and Rwanda Pierce. Our student guests today were Evan Hughes from Scottsbluff High. He plans on attending Florida Southern on a baseball scholarship and majoring in economics and finance. From Gering High we welcome Michael Hackett. His aim is to attend U.N.L. and major in physics.  We inducted a new member; Jill Wineman. She is the manager of the Scotts Bluff Country Club. Our program today was our own Jim Neuwirth.  In his introduction, Jim Trumbull noted that 38 year ago Mr. Neuwirth was asked to speak on the same topic and shortly afterwards was asked to become a member. The subject was and is gun collecting. Mr. Neuwirth’s first gum was purchased through a magazine ad and required no background checks. It came via the railway post and required a signature to receive. My times have changed. Since that time he has collected both guns and gun parts and brought a number of guns to show and relate their story.
