We were honored to have a student guest form Scottsbluff High School, Delany West. Ms. West is active in her school and plans on attaining an Associate’s Degree as she decides what to study. Our program today is presented by Alyssa Harvey, Executive Director of the Scottsbluff Public Schools Foundation, and Jennifer Sibal, Executive Director of the Gering Schools Foundation. They began by announcing that both schools are participating in the Western Nebraska Gives Day on May 5th. This event is sponsored by the Oregon Trails Community Foundation. They encourage everyone to remember them on this day of giving. The main subject of the presentation is the joint event taking place on March 19th called ‘Stronger Together’. This will be a family friendly event taking place at the newly remodeled Gering High School. It is the hope that this will become an annual event benefiting both foundations. The time is 5 to 8 P.M. and will include a 50/50 Bullcat Bingo, tours of the new renovation, career academy information, free Hors D’Oeuvres by the Culinary Arts Students from both schools, and an open gym where kids can play with student athletes. There will also be an auction where student made prizes and experiences will be offered. Items include Art, Lawn cleanup, a Garden she, Dinner and musical tickets and tech support instructions from students. They are looking for community sponsors.
