Drones

President Karpf began our first meeting of June with an update of the district conference last week in Casper Wyoming. We were well represented and recognized for our contribution to Polio Plus. He reminded everyone that the Tri-Club Picnic is June 15 at 6:00 at Frank Park in Scottsbluff. You need to sign up. Also on July 6th there will be no noon meeting as w will have the gavel exchange that evening. We welcomed new members; Christian Bach, Roger Franklin, and Chris Denny, who transferred for his Omaha club. Our program today was Susan Meyers, head of the G.I.S. department for M.C. Schaff & Assoc. Her topic was Drones.  Ms. Meyers is a licensed Drone piolet and began her presentation o the history of unmanned aircraft. As early as 1840, unmanned hot air balloons were used to drop bombs on foes in warfare. They progressed to the drones you think of today. There were 750000 drone piolet licenses active while there are only 2900,000 aircraft piolet licenses. She covered the regulations required by the F.A.A. and went on to show examples of how the images collected by drones can be stitched into a three dimensional computer image with topography. These are useful in mapping and creating usable images for many functions. She ended by answering questions.
