Local Libraries- What they offer

Today we met at the Scottsbluff Library in anticipation of our latest project spearheaded by club member Megan Hayward; Little Free Libraries. President Downey began the meeting with announcements. Tri- club Picnic will be July 15th at the Scotts Bluff Country Club. We will once again be directing parking for the Old West Balloon Fest August 16-17. Our program today were the administrators for the Scottsbluff and Gering Libraries; Noelle Thompson and Diane Downer respectively. Libraries are no longer about lending books, they are about education and information. Each took turns explaining programs, activities, as well as resources which each facility offers. They talked about cooperation between the two as one facility may have a larger collection of large print books while the other offers more audible books. Both will be responsible for stocking the six Little Free Libraries throughout Scottsbluff and Gering. The group then convened at the Westmore pool to dedicate the new Little Free Libraries at a press conference.
