Update on RWHS

Happy New Year everyone!!  For our first meeting of 2019 we welcome one student guest, Aaron Reed from Gering High. He is planning on attending Full Sail University and earning a Bachelor of Arts in Video Game Design. President West made a couple of announcements. The district conference Planning Committee will meet after today’s meeting. He also read a letter about our participation in the dictionary project. Our program today is member John Mentgen to give us an update on the Regional West Health Services (RWHS) Facilities. Mr. Mentgen last spoke to the club in 2016 and much has happened since, in the industry and in the organization. He began with explaining what RWHS is and their mission and goals. Demands on providers of health care is rapidly changing. RWHS is working on keeping up with these changes and demands. What was discovered was that no progress could be made without some much needed infrastructure updates. The hospital is currently undergoing a number of changes. This includes upgrades to the firewalls and sprinklers, the mechanics electrical and plumbing, as well as the roof.  Most of the projects are scheduled to be completed in the third quarter of 2109. CERNA, as new data system more in keeping with the industry standards, is currently being implemented. This will allow providers to access data from mobile devices instead of having to be tied to computers approved for such purpose. The public is changing the way health care is being provided and the insurance companies are also influencing health care. RWHS is looking at the future and planning for any foreseeable situations.
