What is Cirrus House?

We met back at the Country Club. We had a student guest from Scottsbluff High; Harrison Brice. Mr. Brice plans on attending Chadron State College and studying Public Relations and Communications. Member Zack Karpf gave us an update on our Paul Harris Fellows goal. 9 of 11 members took advantage of the Match program, so we are on our way to our $11,000.00 goal by June. President Downey informed us of the upcoming 100 year club Anniversary Celebration happening April 4th. Plans are still in the works, but each member will be accessed $100.00 to pay for the event. Our Program today is Brent Anderson, Executive Director of Cirrus House. Cirrus House works with the community members who have mental challenges. They base their program on focusing on the strengths of the individual. Studies show that focusing on strengths instead of what is wrong brings better results. The program involves mental health day rehabilitation, therapy program, housing provider and youth transition into adulthood. The club house model involve limited paid staff but trains and relies on the members to sustain it. Thus teaching skills and boosting self-esteem. Units members can be involved in include; work units, numbers and navigation units, media and marketing units, and health and wellness units. He invited anyone interested in a tour to call and he would be glad to provide one.
