30th Annual Sugar Valley Rally

We gather this cold afternoon and welcome a couple of guest. Our student guest is a senior at Gering High; Carlie Sides. She is working part time at Midtown Animal Clinic and hoes to attend C.S.U. and become a veterinarian. Wayne Gentry from the Torrington Rotary Club is visiting and promoting their club’s fund raising event, their annual wine tasting evening. Our program today was Dan Dickinson. Mr.  Dickinson, a member of our club, was one of the founding fathers of the Sugar Valley Rally. This vintage car race is based on timed routes which antique cars travel from check point to check point with the hope of matching a computer generated course in matching time. This is the 30th year for the rally, which has proved to be a popular tourist attraction. Mr. Dickinson spoke of the history of the race and his involvement over the years. This year there is to be a change of management as new racers step up to continue the event.
