Scottsbluff Schools new Teachers AND UNL College of Business Dean

We had two programs for today’s meeting, both are related by topic. We welcomed the Scottsbluff School District new teachers. Superintendent Rick Myles made the introduction and spoke of the new high school project and how it is progressing. Each new teacher introduced themselves, told where and what they were teaching, doing for the district, and gave a fact about themselves. These facts included everything from studying abroad to coaching tennis without knowing anything about the sport. Our second program was The Dean of the College of Business Administration at the University of Nebraska Lincoln. Der. Donde Plowman is here with a number of other faculty and staff on a ‘blanket Nebraska’ tour. They are stopping at Scottsbluff, Sidney, and Ogallala on a fact finding mission to find out what the University can do to help the people of Nebraska. Dr. Plowman thanked the new teachers because they are doing the hard work of educating our future work force and preparing them for higher education. Some exciting happenings at the College of Business include, a new building, a growth rate at the college of 22% in the last 6 years, and new business minor for non-business majors which has an enrollment of 1000 students after its inaugural year. She thanked the club for hosting the delegation and made sure we were out on time, as her father was a Rotarian in Oklahoma and she knows how important it is to be out on time.
