Sharon Zimmerman gave Rotarians an uplifting start to the meeting with thoughts of gratitude and reflection. Followed by Marlene Bevan who gave us a tuneful three rounds and a sound ‘sound cycle’ or 'Quadlibit' introduced by Marlene, she reminded us that “we sing because it is inside of us and we have been singing all this time”. Lisa Pointe introduced visiting guests and Rotarians. From near and far! Jayne Mohr introduced one of those guests, Lizzy Freed the District Global Scholar. Lizzy coming from FAR out, the Netherlands where she Agriculture and Agroecology at Wageningen University. In her second year, Lizzy is developing her thesis based on commitments countries are putting towards the Paris agreement and the changing climate. In her first year, Lizzy worked closely with Refugees on a garden project to grow food for themselves and teach them agricultural management practices. Go Lizzy! Greg Luyt gave a Rotary Charities update and the collaborative grant criteria highlighting the Healthy Food Access Hub. Ed Dunlap from Cadillac Rotary encouraged TC Rotarians to join in the White Pine ride on September 7th, conflicting with the 9/11 run but noted ‘some like to ride and some like to run’. Tom Haase encouraged volunteers to ‘tag in’ for tag day shifts. Rotary Charities appointed Benjamin Marentette The Rotary Golf Outing is approaching and sign-up is still available. The next meeting will be held at NMC Hagerty center, after much confusion whether they were the Hawk Owls or Hawk Eyes the president advised all to “pick your own bird and just show up!” Al Zelinkski walked out of the raffle with $65 buckaroos.
