Minutes of Mountain Empire Rotary Club Meeting
Date:  May 4, 2017 at 7:00 a.m. at the Wild Horse Restaurant in Patagonia
Meeting and Pledge:  led by Fred
Attendance:  Fred, Sue , Rosann, Jim and Bob.
Announcements & Club Business:
·       Sue asked the members present how they feel about the scholarships and to decide if we think we can afford to continue to award 2 scholarships or we should cut that back to one, in light of declining membership. After discussion, Fred made a motion to keep the number to two. Jim seconded his motion and all present agreed.
·       The dinner on June 22nd will be at Sue Archibald’s home and will be catered by Bob Tollefson. Bob needs to know how many people to prepare for, so we estimated about 20 people, but it probably would be a good idea to ask people to RSVP to Sue or Rosann just to have a better idea.
·       We normally have no meetings in June, July or August, but it was suggested that we continue to hold them in June this year…although dates are in question since many people have commitments already.
·       Randy will be available to present the Middle School Student of the Year awards at Elgin School on the 23rd and Rosann will make the presentations to the Patagonia Middle School students on the 25th. If anyone else would like to be at either event to represent the club, please feel free!
·       Jim has agreed to continue to serve as Treasurer for the club and Rosann will continue as Secretary.
·       Fred gave us an update on the park. The picnic tables have been ordered and should be here prior to the Memorial Day Rodeo. We made need help putting them together once they arrive so folks should watch their email to come to the Fairgrounds to help. The Roses are in and look great!
·       Sue is planning to attend the District Governor’s Installation Dinner and will be going to the national conference in Atlanta.
·       The Rotary Career Fair is tomorrow and Randy, Bob, Rosann and Sue have done a great job putting it together. Please plan on attending if your available.
·       Sue has learned that the restrictions we ran into last year when we applied for assistance through a grant to help with the park, that those restrictions have been lifted. She will resubmit that application, however, we must have 2 members attend a grant training. The training can be via a webinar and Sue will get us all that information.
·       The next meeting is May 18th at the winery, 5:30 p.m.
The meeting was adjourned at 7: 50 a.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Rosann Clark
