Board Meeting _ April 23rd

Slipping into his Charleston Heston costume, President Anderson announced to the Board members Thursday morning that he was assuming the role of Moses and would be leading them out of the wilderness and God would provide bread for the trip.  As it turned out it was Panerra Bread just up the road from the MethodistChurch.  The Methodists, apparently having second thoughts about this particular group, had changed the locks on the doors.  (At least no one on the board had a key that fit.)  The motorcade that roared out of the church parking lot filled Route 2 with the smoke belching jalopies of the various board members, providing a smoke screen for the speeding caravan.  Panerra Bread Customers were only slightly taken aback when Anderson waved his staff, parting the sea of customers, and moved the Rotarians to the head of the line.

After all the excitement the Board approved a one thousand dollar grant for a WashingtonDC trip for students from ArchieColeMiddle School, then went to work.

Tasted any wine lately.  Our Wine Party, which may be combined with a Whine Party, is scheduled for Thursday, May 7th at St. Luke's Church from 6:30 to 8:30pm.  Ticket prices will be announced soon by Jane Boyton, who is currently stomping grapes in her basement.

Jane, who turned 49 this week, was accompanied the meeting by her granddaughter Jenny.  "She's doing pretty good", Jenny said "but sometimes she gets confused."

Charlie Winkler came up with the line of the day when members greeting him commented on how good he was looking.   Charlie said, "I've changed my mortician."

Now he has a pin to prove it.  Bob MacKenzie has always said he was perfect, and George Cooper  presented him with his pin of authenticity.  Bob has been at every meeting, or completed a make up, for 15 years.

We need somebody with a truck.  Our SERVE trucker is no longer available.  Apparently we will get by this month, but then need help.   It amounts to a once a month trip up to the ACI to pick up the food.  The SERVE program is going quite well, but without a truck we may have problems.  If you are available for "short haul" duty see Bob Sloan.

Keep April 25th on your calendar for the Scott Carlson Memorial Road Race/Walk  for ALS.  We need every member.  Judy Pratt reports things are going well, but sponsors are a little tougher to find this year.  She is hunting them down like a blood dog.
