EG Rotary's Gastronomic Fundraiser Friday

Great Food at Swift Community Center, Preview Party & Book Sale at the Library and More

It’s Thursday, and you’ve got no idea what you’ll do for the weekend. Patch is coming to the rescue with the best bets for how to spend your free time. Check out our picks for the local activities to hit and places to explore.

1. A TASTE OF THE TOWN

Foodies and wine lovers won’t want to miss the East Greenwich Rotary’s annual feast of a fundraiser that features food from some of the town’s best restaurants, including Siena, La Masseria, 1149, Chianti’s, Greenwich Bay Gourmet and Wild Harvest.

The locally prepared food will be paired with delicious wines from The Savory Grape. If wine’s not your thing, there’ll also be an assortment of custom beers on hand.

Entertainment for the night includes both a live and silent auction, so have those checkbooks and credit cards ready. Proceeds from the event benefit the many service programs that the Rotary supports.

Where/When: Swift Community Center; Friday, 6:30pm.

Why Go: Eat, drink and be merry at one of EG’s premiere social events.

Pricing: $35 per person; $190 for a party of six

2.FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY WINE AND CHEESE SNEAK PEEK PARTY & BOOK SALE

Where/When: East Greenwich Free Library; Party -Friday, 6 to 8pm; Book Sale – Saturday 10am to 3pm.

Why Go: Membership has its privileges. Become a Friend of the Library and be first to preview the books for sale on Saturday.

Pricing: Annual membership for Friends of East Greenwich Free Library is $10 for individuals and $20 for families. Books priced individually.

3. PASTA DINNER & TALENT SHOW

Where/When: First Evangelical Lutheran Church; Saturday, 6pm.

Why Go: The church’s youth will be serving up a great meal, complete with sundae bar, and providing the evening’s entertainment to raise money for their 2012 mission trip to New Orleans.

Pricing:  $10 per adult; $5 per child (ages 5-10); free for children 5 and under; $25 max per family.

4. GODDARD PARK FARMERS’ MARKET

Where/When: Goddard Memorial Park; Fridays, 9am to 1pm.

Why Go: Open through October, it’s a great place to get locally-grown food and produce.

Pricing:  Per vendor

5. EGAPL RUMMAGE SALE

Where/When: American Legion Post #15; Saturday, donation drop-off  from 9 to 11:30am; sale from 12 to 3pm.

Why Go: Sales benefit the animals in the East Greenwich Animal Protection League’s care.
