Wreck of the Maheno
Fraser Island (K'gari), QLD 4581
Australia

The Rotary Club of Brisbane High Rise leads an Anzac Day Service each year on the eastern beach of K’gari (Fraser island) beside the wreck of the TSS Maheno – the significance of the Maheno is that in WWI between 1905 and 1919 it was NZ Hospital Ship No 1 and support the Anzac campaign at Gallipoli from August to December 1915. The Maheno resplendent in in white with three red crosses painted on the side sat half a mile off the shore at Anzac Cove.

Since 2015 (other than 2020 due to Covid lockdowns) the Rotary Club of Brisbane High Rise has coordinated an Anzac Day service beside the Maheno including three Red Cross flags in line with those painted on during the hospital ship days.

All welcome.
