2018 Polar Plunge Registration is Open

Plunging or Donating is Making a Difference!

How will you Make a Difference in the goal to eradicate polio? I have an idea for you! Register to plunge at our 8th Annual Polar Plunge for Polio on February 3, 2018.

If you have plunged in prior years, you know the excitement and the joy that is at the center of this incredible experience. The few moments of discomfort provides a glimpse into the impact that polio has on the lives of the children that we have helped immunize and will continue to do so until we have reach our goal: a polio free world!

If you cannot plunge, please donate to a plunger in your club and help them raise money to make the biggest impact possible. The holiday season is an excellent time to share the story, ask for pledges and to build momentum until the day of the plunge.

Reach out to your friends, family, coworkers, and those who share in our work to provide better health to the world. Use each opportunity to demonstrate the great work that Rotary does locally and worldwide and maybe, just maybe, they will want to join our family and Do Good in the World.

Our district goal is to raise $125,000 at this year's plunge, and with your help, we will get there. If we meet our goal, we can ensure that another 500,000 or more immunizations will be provided and, through your efforts and generosity, children will be saved from this horrible disease. In fact, I am sure that your prior donations have already saved many lives of children around the world. For that, I thank you - and so does the rest of the world!

Newburyport Santa Parade
The Newburyport Rotary Club welcomed Santa and Mrs. Claus on Sunday, November 26. Santa and Mrs. Claus arrived courtesy of the U. S. Coast Guard and greeted crowds gathered on the waterfront and in Market Square for their arrival and annual tree lighting. Newburyport Club President, Marion Spark, and her husband, Jeff Beeton, portrayed Santa and Mrs. Claus. They were paraded around town by Rotary Elves pulling and pushing their carriage. Three lucky children were also on the carriage since their mother was the winner of a live auction item donated by the Newburyport Rotary at the annual Newburyport Education Foundation which netted $600 for the NEF. The Newburyport High School Interact Club members were dressed as cartoon characters to greet the children as well. The Newburyport High School and Triton High School bands marched and played holiday music to enhance the festivities before the much anticipated lighting of the tree in Market Square.
Ipswich Rotary Inducts 67th Member
Ipswich Rotary President Cushing Titcomb inducted a new member into the Ipswich Club during the Ipswich Rotary evening meeting on December 13th at the newly opened True North Brewery in Ipswich. Brian Nelson became the 67th member of Ipswich Rotary. Shown in the photo are President Cushing and Brian. Brian is the spouse of Ipswich Rotarian Julie Nelson, and their community service interests include The Open Door Food Pantry, Ipswich Dinner Bell, and the Ipswich High School Interact Club’s annual “Jingle Bell Walk”. Ipswich recently began a Service Membership Program, and has implemented evening meetings on the second Wednesday of every month to accommodate club members not able to attend the Thursday morning meetings. Three additional new members are scheduled to be inducted at the Club’s evening meeting in January.
Wakefield Rotary Recognizes Committed Members
The Wakefield Rotary Club recently recognized 14 of its members who have reached perfect attendance during the Rotary year 2016-17. Although the minimum attendance requirements by Rotary International have eased, many of the Wakefield Rotarians take pride in attaining or maintaining perfect attendance. This is achieved by attending regular weekly meetings, by visiting other clubs both locally and world-wide or by attending an e-meeting online. “This just demonstrates the commitment our members have to Rotary and the community,” commented long-time member Judy Gordon. Gordon along with fellow members Barbara Worley, Joe Buscaino, Jim Fitzgerald, Bruce Donovan, Tom Stapleton, Amy Luckiewicz, Lisa Roderick, Elaine Guaetta, Suzanne Bowering, Fred Singer, Jim Tarpey, Frank Fiorentino, and Jay Curley have accrued a cumulative number of 242 years of perfect attendance. Curley received special notice for his 46 years straight of perfect attendance.
