Unsung Heros Awards Night

$50 a person
Four Points by Sheraton Hotel
1 Audubon Road, Wakefield, MA

Join District Governor Bob Wood on November 8th as we celebrate the Unsung Heroes in our community. Rotarians have a tradition of supporting the Foundation by honoring others. Join us as we celebrate that special person who wakes up every morning and puts others before him or herself and dedicates their life to helping others in need, truly embodying the motto: “Service above Self”

Each Club has been asked to select an Unsung Hero from their Club or Community to be awarded a Paul Harris Recognition at this event. Each awardee will a certificate, a pin and a medallion. Since this is a Rotary Foundation event, the Clubs have also been asked to form a Locavore Basket valued at $100 to be placed in a silent auction, proceeds to benefit the Rotary Foundation. Items in the basket should be indicative of the Club’s community or local area.

Clubs may be seated at their own table of 8 or 10 or combined with other clubs should they have fewer attendees. Please register here for yourself, your club, and please note that there is a special registration for the honoree, as there will be no charge for them at this event.
Winchester's Interact Club Eye Glass Drive a Success!
The Interact Club of the Rotary Club of Winchester recently held a successful eye glass drive, donating more than 325 pairs of eye glasses to the Woburn Lions Club for their Sight Program.

The high school students in the Interact Club choose an eye glass drive as their spring community service project. The students worked with local Winchester businesses and organizations such as the Winchester Library, the Jenks Center, the Fuller Cup, and Winchester Community Music School as drop off locations, in addition to collecting glasses as Winchester High School. Winchester’s Interact Club meets at Winchester High School, typically at the end of the school day, and is sponsored by the Rotary Club of Winchester. Other service projects that the Winchester Interact Club has done include maintenance projects at Wright-Locke Farm, volunteering at Winchester’s Chili Fest, participating in Rotary District 7930 Polar Plunge for Polio Eradication, and more.
RYE Student Raises Money for Mental-Health Patient Career Training
It is wonderful to see when a Rotary Youth Exchange student gets involved in service projects on both ends of their exchange - the sponsoring club and the hosting club. This past year our Marblehead Rotary Club hosted Marisol, a youth exchange student from Thailand. Marisol is not just a great student, but also a very talented artist and produced stunning watercolor paintings and other works during her exchange year. She then decided to sell some of those works to raise money for a career-training project for mental-health patients that her sponsoring club in Thailand, the Nong-khae Rotary Club, is presently working on.

Beverly Rotary Out at Homecoming!
Last week, Beverly had its annual Homecoming week. The Beverly Rotary Club was a large part of this community event. At Lobsterfest Day we had an informational booth at Lynch Park as a community support. The next day we served ice cream to hundreds of Senior Citizens in the park. This is a tradition since our past President Brad Gaige was involved with the Senior Center in town. Since his passing, the event is named after him. And, finally on the last day of Homecoming Week, we drew the winner to our Winner’s Choice Raffle, where a trip of a lifetime could be won: Fiji, Hawaii, the Masters’ Tournament or Tuscany! We are happy to announce that Marshall Handly of Beverly was the winner of his choice of a trip!!! Congratulations, Marshall!!!
