Unsung Heroes Awards
Thursday, November 8, 2018
6:00 - 9:30 pm
Four Points by Sheraton, Wakefield

Have you selected your UNSUNG HERO yet? Have you submitted your name to Joan Arsenault? You don’t want your Club not to be represented at our November 8th Paul Harris UNSUNG HERO Awards dinner.

Please take the time today to talk to your Club, select a HERO and submit the name to Joan today. There is a little bit more you can do. You can click here to register your hero and yourself, and your other Club members who are joining you should do the same.  It’s going to be a great event, one you really don’t want to miss.

Don’t forget, we’re also asking for a $100 valued locavore basket (items indicative of your community or your area) that will be auctioned off to attendees. All proceeds with go to the Rotary Foundation Annual Fund, which will come back to us in three years.

So, join me, the Governors’ track, the Foundation Committee and the other Clubs in the District in honoring someone who does things because that’s who they are, not what they can get out of it.

New Member Orientations a Success
Early in September, our district hosted its third New Member Orientation Party in partnership with District 7910 in Newton, and we welcomed over 50 attendees. The event introduced new members to the overall big-picture of Rotary International, allowing clubs to focus more on club-level culture, policies, and information when they on-board new members. The vibe is fun, casual, and run like a party complete with snacks, dinner, dessert and decorations! The dress-code is “come-as-you-are.” Each session, we invite members who have joined within the past 2 years. If you are a veteran Rotarian, please encourage your new members to attend. If you're a new member, please watch this 1-minute video from Daryl Jaeger. Daryl is a new member from Downtown Boston and wanted to encourage others to attend the event.

The next Orientation events are below. Please click on the links to register:
Wednesday, October 3, 4-Points by Sheraton Wakefield
Thursday, April 11, 4-Points by Sheraton Wakefield

Both of these dates are at the same time as other district meetings in the same location. Carpooling is encouraged!

If you have any questions, please contact Amy Luckiewicz at 781-588-0257 or email rotary7930membership@yahoo.com.

We hope to see all of our new members there!
Reading Comes together at Fall Street Faire
On Sunday, September 9, the Reading Rotary put on the 2018 Reading Fall Street Faire. This year's Faire was a resounding success. Approximately 170 vendors and community groups set up booths along the Faire route on Haven, Main, High, Chute, Linden and Sanborn Streets in Downtown Reading. There was entertainment all day on two stages, one or Main Street and one on High Street. Other features were many blow up apparatuses for the children set up around the route. Other featured areas were: the Children's Area at the Reading Coop parking lot, a Car Show, NFL Tailgate, 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament, Cornhole Tournament, flash mobs, food and drinks and much more. The day was kicked off with a 5K Road Race starting at Washington Park.
