The past 12 weeks have been an incredible experience. As the official visits are winding down, I have been reflecting on the absolute honor that it is to be your District Governor. There are so many Rotarians who inspire me and empower me to be the best that I can be. Your commitment to serving others in so many ways, makes me proud to be a Rotarian.

 

The message about building membership, engaging our members and finding more ways to serve appears to be having a positive impact. Membership is up 28 as of Friday and I have heard that there are 10 or more ready to be added. We are on our way to reaching our goal of 150 by 6/30!

 

Over the past few months, I have highlighted the importance of growing membership and ways to be successful, how service is the key to building engaged members and finally how the Rotary Foundation is the fuel that drives service. 

 

 

On February 3, 2018 we have an opportunity to connect all three facets above. Invite your friends and family to plunge with you, sponsor you or be your personal cheerleader. As you gather your pledges, make sure that every one you speak to understands the significance of eradicating polio and the critical role that Rotary has played in this effort. Be your Club Champion for the Plunge and find a few members who are willing to endure a little discomfort to help raise money.

 

Our collective donations should exceed $125,000, and with the 2-1 Gates Foundation match, we can once again provide the funding for over 500,000 immunizations.

 

My year end request is that you review your personal Foundation report on MyRotary and see if you are close to becoming a Paul Harris Fellow or a multiple Paul Harris Fellow and consider sending in an extra donation before December 31. If you have over 1,000 recognition points, think about using them to honor another member or a community member who is equally dedicated to Doing Good in the World and name them a Paul Harris Fellow. This is a great way to recognize their great work and to help spread the word about Rotary.
