The Rotary Club of Chelsea in conjunction with the Winter Hill Yacht Club treated 100 veterans and their families from the Chelsea Soldiers Home and surrounding areas to a two hour cruise of the Boston Harbor. The veterans were treated to a light breakfast prior to the cruise and lunch after the cruise. Eighteen members of the WHYC donated their boats and crew for the cruise. The Lowell High School Air Force ROTC program provided eight ROTC cadets to help with feeding the veterans. Speakers prior to the cruise included Lt. Dol. Mike Harmon, USMC retired, Lowell High School Aerospace Instructor and ROTC advisor Lt. Col. Eileen Ironfield, Air Force retired, Byron Bishop, Director of Somerville Veteran Services and New Hampshire State Rep. Sgt. Al Balbasara, USMC retired.
This annual event by the Rotary Club of Chelsea and the Winter Hill Yacht Club to honor our veterans had veterans from all branches of the service and all military conflicts since the Viet Nam War participate.
