The Saugus Rotary Club has once again sponsored a festive Christmas luncheon for 180 senior citizens at the Saugus Senior Center. This has always been a very popular event and for regulars at the Saugus Senior Center the Rotary Club’s annual December bash is a can’t miss event. The Rotary Club provides a meal, dessert and entertainment for the town’s seniors. Rotarian Past President, David J. Fama was once again dressed as Santa Claus and stopped by every table to greet those in attendance.
“It’s our way of giving back to seniors in the community,” explained Rotarian Kathy Cucinelli. “I know they really look forward to it. When we got here this morning they were already here waiting for the party to start.”

Rotarians Cucinelli, Stephanie Mastrocola, Tara Leary and Jennifer Rogers served as Santa’s elves ferrying chocolate and other goodies to the appreciative seniors. Ken Strum got into the holiday spirit by sporting a red-and-white outfit filled with images of Christmas trees and Santa Claus. Joanne Olsen, the director of the Saugus Senior Center, thanked the Saugus Rotary Club for its generosity in sponsoring the Christmas party. Rotary Club President Tom Carroll told the Advertiser the Senior Center Christmas party is one of the ways the organization tries to give back to Saugus.

“It’s great to see what the Rotary Club does for the elderly community in Saugus,” said Strum, who serves on the Council on Aging Board of Directors.
