On a perfect summer afternoon and on the vast green summer lawn running down towards the ocean edge, the Salem Club sponsored a successful event at the Plummers Home for boys. The event was for the children involved with the DCF. the Dept of children & families. The children in attendance are kids in foster homes. The foster boys and girls as well as the host families and any additional extended family members were invited. We had nearly 100 people attend the event.

The club's goal was to provide a fun and enjoyable experience for the kids and Rotary did just that. We had two air inflated recreational items, a bouncy house and an air slide. The club rented two ponies and offered rides to all!

Of course we also offered the standard barbeque items including hot dogs and hamburgers and chips and cookies, cotton candy as well as ice cream donated by Treadwell's ice cream.

To top off the event two youth bikes with safety helmets, donated by two Salem Rotarians were raffled off to a lucky boy and girl. Can you imagine the excitement of a young person without ownership of a bike winning this prize? The Salem Club can as we witnessed the good fortune and excitement and energy of a young person feeling lucky and blessed with their new bikes!
