The Rockport Rotary Club and the Rockport Police Department held their 2nd Annual Bike Safety Ralley on Saturday, June 3 at the Rockport High School. There was an obstacle course around the High School track, helmet fitting and replacements, bike inspection and bike registration.

32 children of all ages registered their bikes and scooters and completed the course. They received a ribbon and certificate upon completion. 5 new helmets were given out and some repairs and adjustments on several bikes were made - air for the tires, straightening handle bars, etc.
There was safety training on hand signals, stop sign and cross walk procedures, and some fun stops along the course where the kids shot baskets and played Frisbee golf. Kids were introduced to Rotarians as well as officers and were given an opportunity to get inside a police car. Everybody got free hotdogs, chips, and drinks. We also had the assistance of Jennifer Doan from the Manchester Rotary club who is also a Pan Mass Challenge participant.

It was a fantastic community event on all levels! Some kids repeated the course several times! It was great to have Rotarians, officers, and a few teenagers working together.

The event was coordinated by Janelle Favarola and Wendy Rose of the Rockport Rotary Club and John Horvath, Rockport Police Chief and Rockport Rotarian. Special thanks for everyone that helped out-Rockport police officers, local teenagers and residents. A fun event for everyone.
