It had been several months since the Greater Boston Mobile Food Bank truck made a delivery in Lynn on the first Saturday of the month, but that streak ended last Saturday when Catholic Charities on North Common Street, opened its parking lot and a host of volunteers stepped up to help distribute food to some 300 Lynn citizens. The Rotary Club of Lynn, a faithful volunteer since the project began two years ago this September at St. Mary’s, was there to answer the call from volunteer coordinator Mary Magner.
Rotarian Bill Reilly, a member of Lynn’s Satellite Club that meets Tuesday mornings at Lynn Arts, rallied the troops and was pleased with the strong turnout. Reilly, it should be noted, had to leave early for another Rotary project as he had volunteered the ride the bus with Lynn campers who had attended Camp Rotary in West Boxford. Joining Reilly were Jan Plourde, Paula Clancy and her husband Mike, Harvey Rowe, Mackie and Ray Bastarache and Swampscott Rotarian Daniel Cahill.
