A large group of Lynn Rotarians and family members, along with District Governor Sheryl Meehan, Asst. District Governor Joan Arsenault and past DG David Manzi, gathered at Temple Shirat Hayam in Swampscott on April 5th when the Lynn Club was recognized for outstanding volunteerism at My Brothers' Table’s 5th Annual Founders' Celebration. Lynn Rotarian and former President of My Brother’s Table Executive Board, Attorney Harvey Rowe, presented the award to Lynn President Ray Bastarache, who accepted on behalf of the members. “Our commitment to serve the poor and homeless in our city is firm,” declared Bastarache. “We are blessed to have so many members who want to help that occasionally we’ve sent Rotarians home because we had too many volunteers for the jobs that needed to be done.“
For many years, Lynn Rotarians have volunteered to help prepare and serve dinners at The Table but two years ago the Club more than doubled its commitment from what was three or four times a year to the first Monday of each month and to be on The Table’s “on call” list to be used on nights when not enough volunteers have shown up from other organizations. These typically happen on Memorial Day, Labor Day at Christmas time or July 4th weekends. In addition, Lynn’s newly chartered Interact Club at Lynn Classical High School, followed the lead of its sponsoring club by committing to volunteer at My Brother’s Table on the third Monday of each month.
