The Gloucester Rotary Club held its Third Annual Interact Pinning Ceremony in early May at Gloucester High School. Rotary and Interact club members, local dignitaries, school officials and parents joined in to celebrate this amazing group of young people and their contributions to our community.

Interact Faculty Advisor Michael Perreault spoke about the club’s many accomplishments over the past year. The club planned, funded and managed every aspect of the annual Pathways Holiday Party for the children of Gloucester and their families. The club also engaged in many smaller community service opportunities such as Rotary District 7930’s annual Polar Plunge, Gloucester Education Foundation’s Power of Play, the Gloucester Pride Stride, the West Parish Fifth Grade Party and the Empty Bowl food pantry fundraiser. Finally, the club donated more than $4,500 to local, national and international organizations. Included in this giving was a $1,000 donation to the Rotary Foundation in honor of Mara Destino, founder of the Adaptive Lacrosse Program.

In order to fund these good works, the Interact Club held their annual Lobster Roll Sale and Pizza Taste Off fundraisers.

As part of the Pinning Ceremony, Interact members Karissa Murray and Jenna Taormina were honored for their exceptional leadership this year, and Rotarians Tina Raimo, Julie Geary and David Stotzer were recognized for their tireless support of the club.

The Gloucester Rotary Club is proud to sponsor the Gloucester High School Interact Club. These young adults are our future!
