Become a part of the second Don Humphreys Veterans Memorial 5K , Sunday November 8th at noon.

Become a part of the first Don Humphreys Veterans Memorial 5K hosted by the Marblehead Rotary Club. Join the Marblehead Rotary Club for a scenic race through downtown Marblehead at noon. Sunday, November 8th.

The race-course will begin at the Boston Yacht Club overlooking Marblehead Harbor and will take runners through Marblehead’s historic downtown, back through the community, returning to the BYC. After the race is over, runners and their supporters are invited to join the Marblehead Rotary Club at the BYC for a complimentary beer or wine (for runners) and snacks. A full cash bar will also be available.

The proceeds from this race will support the Marblehead Rotary Club’s scholarship program and will provide a additional scholarship to support a son or daughter of a veteran or a student entering a military academy.

The race was established to honor the memory of Humphreys, a World War II Marine veteran of Guadalcanal, a dedicated pilot, a loving friend to young and old, and a Marblehead Rotarian who personified the Rotary ideal of “service above self,” according to the club. He believed in the good work of Rotary and its longstanding commitment to providing scholarships to deserving high school graduates, the club added. By participating in this race, the club said you would be strengthening and continuing Humphreys’ legacy.
