DisCon 2020 - Important FAQs

Important Notes - 2/3/20:-

  • Please make sure you have your Passport!
  • Traffic into the port is hectic on the departure day - please allow enough time. Self-drive, follow the signs for "Long Term Parking" once in the Port area.
  • Arrive early as the queues for boarding can be very long. Boarding opens as 09:30. Please aim to arrive no later than 11:00. No boarding after 13:30.
  • From the airport - book the MSC Airport shuttle.
  • Please print the luggage tags provided in your booking documents and attach these to your luggage - your bags will be delivered directly to your cabin.
  • Please don't bring any alcoholic drinks or food onto the ship; it will be confiscated and returned to you after the cruise. All bags are scanned!
  • Your "Cruise Card" acts as payment method on the ship. Please link your Credit Card to your Cruise Card once on board. US Dollars are accepted as cash payments, do not bring Rands.
  • Any questions? Please visit the Rotary Hospitality Desk during conference hours in The Covent Garden Theatre: Deck 6: Bow (Front of Ship).
  • Please attend the safety drill on Friday afternoon and make sure they scan your cruise card, else you will have to participate in a mandatory safety meeting on Saturday which will conflict with the Rotary Conference programme.
  • If you suffer from motion sickness, please take your tablets at least one day before boarding the ship - don't wait till you are feeling sick.
  • Once we sail out of Durban, there will be no cell reception or data services. Special access packages are available through MSC.
  • Please purchase your Drink Packages before boarding. There will also be packages available once you board the ship at a premium to the online transaction.
  • Portuguese Island: we have organised tender tickets for the Rotary group to visit the island. You can attend the Rotary Conference on Saturday morning and still have your fun in the sun - no queueing necessary.
  • We have Seating Reservations for the 2nd Sitting at 20h30 in L'Ibiscus Ristorante for all passengers in the Rotary Group.
  • We plan two themed dinners. A "Celebrate Rotary" Dinner, where you can wear your most outrages Rotary apparel, as well as an "End Polio Now Dinner" for which you can wear anything Red and/or White and/or Yellow.
  • Please bring a positive attitude and enjoy everything the MSC Orchestra has to offer - let's have some fun in celebrating a year of Rotary Connects the World.
  • Did I mention your Passport?
