Governor's Letter

A new year is upon us and it is abit frigid for all.  But winter weather be it the cold or snow is a blessing to many people.  Some people make their living off of this weather.   And we are so thankful that we can rely upon this hard working individuals.  And if you are into winter sports, then let the fun begin.  January is Rotary Vocational Services Month.  How many clubs continue with visiting members businesses and work situations?  A great way to find out what people really do and to attract new customers.

Membership, membership, membership….how many have contacted our new Membership Chair, Dave McCully and signed up for the district’s club membership plan?  New officers need to be updated in My Rotary; PETS is right around the corner.  DGE Kathy is getting everything prepared to fully train the President-Elects for their 2018-2019 year leading the clubs.  Have you met your Foundation goals?  IPDG Scott continues to promote the RI 2018 Annual International Conference in Toronto.   Sign up to go and enjoy the flavor of a unique city and see Rotarians from around the world who are ever so proud and rightly so to be Rotarians.   All clubs need to continue on their recording of service hours and money donated for charitable purposes.

I had a most enjoyable holiday vacation..lasted most of the month.  Now back to work.  I still have 6 more months and lots of activities to be involved in.   I will be contacting club presidents to go over any issues they may be having, and will also be on the road again doing so follow-up club visits (weather permitting).   Please all remember that my District Conference is April 28th in DeKalb.  Reservations should open up mid February so save the date.

Have you ever attended a Rotary International Convention?  Would you like to learn more about Rotary and meet other Rotarians with similar interests?  Consider Zone 28-29  CELEBRATION ZONE.  It's a bit like a mini-International conference.
Our Zone celebration is a gathering of 28 US Rotary Districts held in the Fall each year.  District 6420 is one of those districts.
This year the celebration will be held  in
September 26-30, 2018
Leaders of our Zones will gather in Erie and celebrate Rotary and all we do.  If you are a club or district leader or maybe a Rotarian interested in becoming more involved
Governor Steve Kuhn
Steve will be happy to share program information as well as costs, hotel sites etc.
Come and join us in Erie!! (Pennsylvania)
Note from Vice Governor Jim Nelson
Good Morning Rotarians and clubs:
Just a quick note......this is the Rotary mid year for all of us. .  Many clubs and individuals have not yet made a contribution to the Polio Plus Fund.  Not only has the district made a pledge to contribute funds but as clubs and individuals  we have an obligation to help finance the fight to end this disease.  If you haven't yet made a contribution please consider it and do so as soon as you can. Lets make the world a better place for everyone.

Vice Governor
