"Harvard Community Garden -- Feeding Each Other, Growing Together"
This project, shared at the 2016 D6420 Conference, has the distinct honor and pleasure of being a featured District Community Project for Rotary International.
Here's a sample of what eight Harvard club members have done over four years (via a 10-second time-lapse video) to help a community come together around feeding, growing, friendship and the future.
Harvard's project will be part of a District Community Grant video seen by Rotary clubs around the world. Awesome! Stay tuned....
If you are your club’s Foundation chair or president (OK, presidents-elect are welcome, too), this event is especially for you.
It is scheduled from 3 to 4:45 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 5, just preceding the Foundation Dinner (social hour begins at 5 p.m.)
We hope that pairing these two events will encourage you to attend both. Special guests PDGs Chris and Penny Offer from District 5040 will be with us for the entire afternoon and evening so we can take advantage of their wisdom.
There will be no charge for attending.
In addition, we hope many of you will remain for the dinner and include a guest.
If we know in advance that guests/spouses will be attending and that it is more convenient for you both to arrive at the same time (such as 3 p.m.), we will work on planning an activity for those not attending the roundtable.
Our district’s year-end report is just in from Rotary International.
First, the good news. We exceeded both our Annual Fund and PolioPlus goals for 2015-16. Our clubs collectively set an Annual Fund goal of $126,018, and we invested $138,439. Our PolioPlus goal was $23,012 and we invested $37,363. In addition, $39,243 was committed to the Endowment Fund (our highest previous total was $8,387 the year before). Job very well done in relation to our goals.
Now, a bit of reality. The Annual Fund goal for 2015-16 of $126,016 was almost $20,000 below our goal in 2013-14, which we didn’t achieve.
Investing in the Foundation between those two years was almost equal.
Investing in 2014-15 was very low at $120,634. As you know, those figures are key in determining how much money is available in District Designated Funds to support our scholars and district grants. We had seven non-giving clubs this past year.
It is important to note that our per capita giving increased to $76.14, a good thing, but the increase was due to decreased membership, a bad thing. Membership does matter!
All clubs planning/considering/submitting a 2017-2018 Grant Request MUST be qualified.
To be qualified the President Elect MUST attend one of the Grant Management Seminars, and the Club's Grant Chair MUST have been trained in Rotary years 2014-2015, 2015-16 or this year, 2016-17.
