Rotary District 5190 Grant Programs for Rotary Scholars

District Grant Scholarships provide funds to help offset the cost of one year of study at the undergraduate level at any accredited college or university in the United States.  The prospective scholar must complete the application and submit it to a local Rotary Club in District 5190.  A club committee interviews and selects a qualified applicant for recommendation to the District 5190 Scholarship Committee, which conducts interviews and makes the final selection of District Scholars.

Global Grant Scholarships provide up to $33,000 to offset the cost of graduate study for no less than one and no more than four years of study in a foreign country. The scholar’s area of study and professional goals must clearly fit within one of Rotary International’s six areas of focus:

  • Peace and Conflict Prevention/Resolution
  • Disease Prevention and Treatment
  • Water and Sanitation
  • Maternal and Child Health
  • Basic Education and Literacy
  • Economic and Community Development
HOW DO I APPLY?

District Grant Scholarships:  Prospective District Scholars must complete a 2018-19 application and submit it to a local District 5190 Rotary Club for sponsorship.  Funds can be used for tuition, books, supplies, and other educational needs.  Scholar applications are due to the District Scholarship Committee by April 2 for the academic year beginning September.  The club must submit the application of its selected scholarship applicant to the District Scholarship Committee by April 15.

Global Grant Scholarships:  Rotary International has designed a Scholarship Candidate Application form available on the District 5190 Website (RotaryDistrict5190.org).  Students interested in applying for a Global Scholarship should print a copy of the application and submit it to a local District 5190 Rotary Club which will review and approve the application, interview the applicant, and submit the application to the District 5190 Scholarship Committee, which then will interview and select finalists.  The application is then posted on-line to the Rotary International website, where it will be carefully reviewed by The Rotary Foundation and funded if approved.
