Rotary D6840 Partnership with The Blood Center
People of Action * People of Service
Throughout the geographic area of District 6840 hospitals face a critical need for blood donations.
We have partnered with The Blood Center to tally the donations of all Rotarians of D6840.
If your club would like to organize an actual blood drive, please do.  But this is something that we can do as individual members of Rotary.

CALL TO ACTION

IPDG Bob Haeuser

AUGUST 1 9am-NOON

3101 Cambridge Dr., LaPlace, LA, 70068

45 pallets of educational materials from PreK to secondary education have been offered to District 6200 and District 6840 for distribution. These materials will be available for individuals and organizations at our book distribution which will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2020 from 9 AM to Noon.   These are small reading books, practice workbooks, literature books, grammar handbooks, secondary-subject books, and lots more.

Reminders: these educational materials must stay in the USA and cannot be used as the main texts in public schools but are allowed to supplement public school teachers’ lessons. Also note that these materials can be used in private schools, tutorial programs, jails, and prisons, book give-aways, home-schooling, low-income or high risks literacy programs, and any other literacy programs in the state. They can also be given directly to students as incentives, rewards, or part of literacy programs. They can be used in public schools as incentives, classroom libraries, as supplemental resources, or given directly to students. Please contact all your community leaders and organizations so these materials can be put to the maximum benefit for our children in our state.

Come early for a greater selection -- all books are distributed on a first-come-first-served basis. Bring box cutters, hand carts, and muscles to get your materials.

Post a story to the District fb page or use the #Rotary6840 in your social media posts to let us know how your club or sponsored organizations use these materials. Sharing ideas on improving literacy can go a long way.

Districts 6200 and 6840 wish to thank the IOCC (International Orthodox Christian Charities) for making these materials available to our Districts.  Since we have begun our partnership, the IOCC has provided our districts with nearly $70 million dollars in educational materials. Thank you, IOCC!!!

Hoping to see you at the distribution!

Yours in the Spirit and Service of Rotary,

IPDG Bob Haeuser
