A Message from Membership Chair Jamie Haeuser (RC New Orleans-Riverbend)
Folks, since accepting Elizabeth’s appointment as District Membership Chair, I’ve learned a lot about membership, worked with a number of you on the Zone Membership Initiative (you know, where club leadership selects three engagement strategies and three attraction strategies then develops plans for each of them) and worked with club presidents, Membership Facilitators and AGs to bring in several new members through leads from RI.  Lots of great things happening, and I thank you for all your efforts.

Now, I will be dropping one or two simple ideas I’ve picked up into the District Newsletter.  The “Membership Minute” will include quick notes for immediate application.  Please take the literal minute required to read over these.  If you need or want more information, call or email me.  Otherwise, feel free to put them to immediate use!

Membership Minute!
  1.  Presidents and Membership chairs, if you have new members, just check in with them in person, by phone or email.  Just ask them if they are getting what they need from Rotary, and how we can improve their experience.  Fresh eyes see things we don’t, and feedback is a gift!
  2. Keep ClubRunner updated!  This will help make sure you get things you are supposed to get, and that you have valid data for decision-making.  Invest a rainy Saturday AM – or appoint someone (maybe a new member?) to get into the system and make sure the right people are listed for the right roles and that stats are up-to-date.  It’s a great tool!
  3. Make sure ALL members – but especially new ones – have a role to play!  People don’t join Rotary to attend meetings – they joined to make a difference!  Don’t be shy about asking people to do things.

That’ll do for this month.  I, your AGs and your Membership Facilitators are here for you.  Reach out when you need anything related to membership.  We can grow Rotary with new ideas and energy!
