The Rotary Club of Stone Oak San Antonio was established in 2002 and hosts its weekly meetings at The Club at Sonterra on every Thursday at noon.

The Mission of each Rotarian is to encourage and foster the ideal of "service above self" as a basis of worthy enterprise for spiritual, family, community, and business lives.   They seek opportunities for service and promote high ethical standards.

Funds raised from the annual Stone Oak Rotary Casino Royale events are used to support the many charities and projects they foster and support.  Stone Oak is very active in the community.  Some of the projects they support are:

  • Rotary International’s End Polio Now project
    • Initiative protects children around the world with Polio vaccines to globally eradicate Polio forever.
  • Child Advocates San Antonio (CASA)
    • Stone Oak Rotary has given 1,000+ soft and stuffed toys to children as a quiet support tool that they can carry with them as they travel through the court systems.
  • SAMS Ministry

  • Stone Oak Rotary Let’s Read Program™
    • The mission is to support, encourage, and increase literacy in San Antonio. They were donors for the development of the Parman Branch Library at Stone Oak. They cover the cost for library books to several local schools every year. They can proudly say that for the past 3 years, they have provided funding for the Dual Language libraries of Vineyard Ranch and Stone Oak Elementary.
  • FLAG™ (Fitness, Literacy, Attendance & Grades)
    • Stone Oak Rotary’s signature service project is FLAG. There are two components of FLAG (Attendance & Hunger).
    • The goal is to improve the wellness of the students, facilitate a decrease in absenteeism, an increase in ability to concentrate and participate, an increase in academic performance, an improvement in behavior and health, and boost school attendance.  This will enable the faculty and staff to provide the educational support and guidance to hopefully a larger population.
    • There has been a vast improvement in attendance that has been directly attributed to this Service Project.
    • Through FLAG last year, Stone Oak Rotary awarded (52) Bikes, (300) Soccer Balls, and 1,550 Weekend Meals to the schools they service, East Terrell Hills, Oak Grove and Walzem Elementary.
    • “FLAG” was highlighted by the Rotary International President Gary C.K. Huangas during a January 2015, San Antonio visit.
    • The North East Independent School District (NEISD) featured FLAG in the “North East News”.
    • The Flag program was featured in “the Rotarian” and on News 4 San Antonio.
    • “FLAG” has received the District 5840 “Service Above Self” Award, the North East Independent School District (NEISD) “Superintendent’s Award”, and has been recognized twice by State Senator José Menéndez, District 26, with “The State of Texas ~ Certificate of Recognition”.

Stone Oak Rotary Club is proud to have an extensive list of community service projects and the list above is only an example of what they do and how they do it.    They truly do their best to live up to the mission of “Service Above Self”.
