The D6270 Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee encourages us all to acknowledge the rich and diverse cultures within our geographic boundaries. The holiday season is often focused on celebrations rooted in European ancestral traditions and tends to ignore those among us who enjoy different, yet equally significant, time-honored celebrations. This is a great time to explore how other cultures express customs, values, and beliefs. Celebrating diversity, especially around the holidays, helps us build an understanding and awareness of other cultural practices and to reflect on our own.

Our next session, "Cultural Diversity in Year-End Celebrations", will provide a glimpse into cultures from Native Americans, Islam, Hmong, Jewish, Kwanzaa, and Hispanic peoples. We will have panelists representing these diverse cultures who will share their special year-end celebrations with us.
