Dear Rotarians,

As a member of The Rotary Foundation’s Major Gifts Initiative Committee, it is my pleasure to share with you an exciting donor appreciation opportunity.  Our Rotary Foundation would like to thank donors from New England who make a new, outright gift of $10,000 and above or a bequest commitment of $25,000 and above starting 1 September 2019 by inviting them to attend a private event at Harvard University on 29 April 2020.  Donors who have supported any of The Rotary Foundation’s funds, programs, or grants will be invited--but space is limited.  This special donor appreciation event will include a walking tour of campus with RI President Mark Maloney (Harvard College, AB History, ‘76) followed by a celebratory reception and dinner in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

We are also excited to announce that Mr. Alexander Falk – immediate past president of the Rotary Club of Marblehead, Massachusetts, and currently Assistant Governor and Youth Exchange Chair in District 7930 – and his wife Nora have made a lead gift in support of this effort with a $250,000 increase in their bequest to The Rotary Foundation.  Thanks to Alexander’s and Nora’s generosity and leadership, we look forward to hosting a highly successful donor appreciation event at Harvard in support of our Rotary Foundation!

Each year since the roll-out of Future Vision, The Rotary Foundation has sponsored seven scholars on average to Harvard through Global Grants.  In fact, since 2014 our Foundation has awarded over $1.4 million in scholarships for 34 students to enroll in MA degree programs related to Rotary’s Areas of Focus at Harvard.

We encourage you to utilize the attached promotional piece on your District’s website and social media channels in order to help secure new major gifts and bequests.  Space for the event is limited, so please do not delay.  Trustee Julia Phelps, Harvey Newcomb at The Rotary Foundation, and I are available to answer any questions.

Thank you in advance for your help as we invite those major donors in New England who make new major gifts or bequests to “go back to school” this spring with RI President Mark at his college alma mater!

Best regards,
Marty Helman
